Stem Cell Therapy for Traumatic Brain Injury

Did you have a traumatic brain injury (TBI) over 1 year ago and still have difficulty moving your hands, arms, feet, or legs due to the injury?
You may be eligible to participate in a 12 month research study looking at the safety and effectiveness of modified stem cells.

Inclusion criteria

  • TBI over 1 year ago
  • Between 18 and 75 years of age
  • Focal injury identified on MRI or CT
  • Willing to have brain surgery
  • Willing to be followed for 12 months with MRI scans, neurology and physical therapy visits
  • Willing to discontinue herbal or non-traditional medications

Exclusion criteria

  • Seizures in the past 3 months
  • History of major neurological disease
  • Uncontrolled psychological illness
  • Substance use disorder
  • Craniectomy with missing bone flap
  • Pregnant or planning to be pregnant in the next 12 months
