Free-Breathing MRI in Children 2 Months to 6 Months of Age

The UCLA radiology and pediatric departments are teaming up to investigate if free-breathing MRI can accurately measure fat distribution in the body. We believe some babies who are born premature, too small or too large may have distinctly different body compositions and fat depositions.  We are using free-breathing MRIs to investigate these differences.

Your child may be eligible to participate if he/she:

  • Is between 2 months and 6 months of age
  • Is healthy and was born appropriate, large, or small for gestation (please speak to our coordinators to help determine this)
  • Does not have any metal in their body

If you would like to participate in our study:

Your child will perform a free-breathing MRI and complete a series of anthropometric measurements.
You will be given a $150 Target gift card to compensate for your time.
